Oskaloosa RAGBRAI Committee Dispurses Extra Funds
Oskaloosa, Iowa – RAGBRAI made its way into Oskaloosa on July 25th, and with it came some uncertainty on how the day would end for Oskaloosa. Would the investment in hundreds of hours of planning, the hundreds of volunteers and the investment by the RAGBRAI committee pay off?
At a press conference on Friday, the answer to those questions seem to be a resounding yes. “This was a successful event,” said Oskaloosa Mayor Dave Krutzfeldt pointing towards the success of “pulling the community together.”
“For six months, we were all working on the same goal,” Krutzfeldt added. “To see that kind of harmony, and that kind of cohesion in a community, that’s a rare thing.
With the many compliments by riders and RAGBRAI personnel, it appeared that Oskaloosa, and its months of planning, had left a positive impression. The question remained, would those visitors leave a checking account, at least in the black, after the bills had been paid?
The answer for that question was answered on Friday, as the RAGBRAI committee dispersed its extra funds to a few local entities.
The Mahaska County Recreation Foundation and the Oskaloosa Chamber Tourism Committee each received $2362.00. The Oskaloosa School system received $4724.00 and the Oskaloosa Chamber and Development Group received $9448.09.
