Former Oskaloosa Police Officer Now Facing Three Charges

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Oskaloosa Police Officer, Janay Pritchett, 25, is now facing three charges after an alleged domestic incident.

As of Friday, May 11th, Pritchett’s employment with the Oskaloosa Police Department was terminated.

Pritchett is facing two counts of Domestic Abuse Assult. According to court documents, the second offense charge stems from a prior conviction/deferred judgment for Domestic Abuse Assault on the 24th day of March 2014, in Mahaska County, Iowa.

That conviction would have happened before Pritchett joined the Oskaloosa Police Department.

The third count is Harassment in the First Degree. All three counts are Aggravated Misdemeanor violations.

Pritchett is being prosecuted by Nicole Olson of the Marion County Attorney’s office.

Pritchett has no attorney named in court documents.

Pritchett was arrested in the early morning hours of May 4th by a Mahaska County Deputy in regards to an alleged domestic assault.

According to the affidavit filed by the deputy, Pritchett cut her girlfriend on the left side of the neck with a small folding pocket knife.

The affidavit also states that Pritchett kicked her girlfriend in the chest, and then told her she was going to kill her. The girlfriend says she stopped Pritchett from getting a shotgun.

Pritchett says that she didn’t cut her girlfriend and the incident was physical with both parties pushing, grabbing, and wrestling. Pritchett says she has an injury to her back from the girlfriend.

Pritchett’s next scheduled court date is May 21, 2018, at 9 am.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the subject is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
