Oskaloosa PD Offers Suggestions To Protect Against Burglary

The Oskaloosa Police Department would like to remind citizens to lock their houses and vehicles at all times. The Oskaloosa Police Department has recently seen an increase in reported vehicle burglaries as well as attempted burglaries to residences and out buildings.

In cases involving vehicles, the suspects are targeting vehicles which are left unlocked and allow easy access. Please lock your vehicles and secure valuables where they cannot be seen.

In cases involving residences and out buildings, the suspects are prying sheds open and attempting to gain access to residences through windows. Please double check your residence windows to make sure they are locked.

Since August 1st, 2014 the Oskaloosa Police Department has taken reports of 19 vehicles burglarized. 8 residences have been burglarized with 6 of them having been entered through windows. An additional 6 businesses, sheds, and garages have been burglarized with forced entry reported to 5 of them.
