The Oskaooosa Indians seemed to struggle through a slow start to overcome a tough Mt. Pleasant team on Friday night.

Oskaloosa Football Head Coach Jake Jenkins said that it was a “hard fought battle in the first half. Mt. Pleasant did a good job.”
“We threw an interception for a touchdown that hurt us right off the bat.  That got Mt. Pleasant the lead,” said Jenkins.
“We responded better in the second half and were in better shape.  We played all 4 quarters and that was HUGE for us pulling ahead in the second half.
Alex DeJong, otherwise known as ‘Spark’ helped to spark the momentum change for the Indians.
“WOW, what a play by DeJong! He did a great job with the pick and lateraling the ball to VanRoekel for an excellent return which set up a score before half.  At that point it was tied up 14-14 at half,” said Jenkins.
“We got the ball on Offense in the 3rd quarter and drove down the field and scored. Seth Howard did a great job taking the lead along side with Casey Hill and Cole Henry,” added Jenkins.
“Cole had a phenominal touchdown pass that will make our end of the season highlight tape.  He elevated, found the ball, went up with strong hands, and just beat the defender. He did an incredible job playing the ball in the air,” said Jenkins.

In closing,  Jenkins said, “We were missing a ton of key players and responded very well. We had less penalties and everyone gave GREAT EFFORT!  I really like this team, their attitudes and how they take care of each other. Go INDIANS!!!”
