YMCA PROCLAMATION Designating the month of September 2018 as “YMCA Appreciation Month” in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
WHEREAS, the YMCA is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living and social responsibility
WHEREAS, the Mahaska County YMCA in Oskaloosa, Iowa serves our residents with the help of 200 volunteers providing support across programs and policy
WHEREAS, the Mahaska County YMCA is volunteer-led, and a powerful advocate of the needs of children, families, and individuals in our community
WHEREAS, the Mahaska County YMCA partners within our community, including collaborations with schools, government, faith-based organizations, businesses, charities and other non-profits
WHEREAS, the Mahaska County YMCA provides childcare programs with a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn, grow and develop social skills
WHEREAS, the Mahaska County YMCA is a leading voice on health and well-being with a mission centered on balance: bringing families closer together, encouraging good health and fostering connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests
WHEREAS, the Mahaska County YMCA gives back to the Mahaska County Community through programs and services ranging from assistance to other charities and nonprofits, to health screenings, summer enrichment and more
WHEREAS, the Mahaska County YMCA is dedicated to improving Oskaloosa and Mahaska County by engaging men, women and children regardless of age, income or background to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the overall health and well-being, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors
NOW, THEREFORE, I, David Krutzfeldt, the Mayor of City of Oskaloosa, Iowa in recognition of more than 160 years of helping build a healthy Iowa, do hereby proclaim the month of September, 2018 as Mahaska County YMCA Appreciation Month and call upon the community to join in celebration in honor of the Mahaska County YMCA.
