Mayor David Krutzfeldt has formally announced April as Child Abuse Awareness Month by signing a proclamation. This proclamation brings awareness to the importance of safeguarding the safety and welfare of our children within the community. It’s a moment for us to unite, increase awareness, and work towards preventing child abuse in every aspect. Let’s join forces to establish a safe and caring environment for all the children in our community. Together, we have the power to create a positive impact and guarantee that every child thrives in a loving and secure setting.

The Mahaska County Community Partnerships for Protecting Children have arranged an event to promote child abuse prevention awareness. Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at Penn Central Mall. Join them for the free Shades of Blue Family Celebration, open to everyone. Bring your children along for a day filled with activities like games, prizes, nail polishing, popcorn, llama interactions, meeting “Cy” the Iowa State Mascot, and many other fun activities!
