Oskaloosa Indians Varsity Nabs Win Over Pella Christian Despite Early 3-Run Inning

Oskaloosa Indians Varsity managed through a push by Pella Christian in the fifth inning where Oskaloosa Indians Varsity coughed up three runs, but Oskaloosa Indians Varsity still won 6-4 on Monday. Pella Christian scored its runs on a double by Bennett Spronk.

Oskaloosa Indians Varsity got things moving in the first inning. Landon Briggs drove in two when Briggs doubled.

Wes Wilcox was credited with the victory for Oskaloosa Indians Varsity. Wilcox lasted four and a third innings, allowing five hits and four runs. Jarrett Czerwinski and Aiden Hildenbrand entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Micah DeHaan led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Pella Christian. The pitcher allowed eight hits and six runs over four and a third innings, striking out six. Trevor Veenstra threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Oskaloosa Indians Varsity tallied nine hits in the game. Aiden North, Marcus Fresquez, and Alex Christ all collected multiple hits for Oskaloosa Indians Varsity. Christ, Fresquez, and North each collected two hits to lead Oskaloosa Indians Varsity. Fresquez led Oskaloosa Indians Varsity with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.

Pella Christian racked up eight hits on the day. Spronk and Eliot Menninga each racked up multiple hits for Pella Christian.
