Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa School Board met on Monday, August 28th to go over plans for the upcoming gymnasium renovation project.

The project is estimated to cost 1.8 million dollars to complete, and would include new insulation, updating the heating system and adding air conditioning to the facility.

With the remodel, the gym will have to be brought up to fire protection code.

After work is bid out, the project is expected to be completed by April 15th, with work to be completed causing a minimal amount of interruption, and keeping the district updated on progress to help keep those disruptions to a minimum.

Drost also volunteered his help to stay up on the day to day construction progress. “I would love to do it if I’m still on the board. We need to have somebody who is there every day to walk through and see if there’s something that looks strange.”

Oskaloosa Schools Superintendent agreed, and encouraged board members to walk through and observe the project during the construction and remodeling phase.

“I was just really impressed with all of the detail that went into this,” said Drost of the project documentation.

The board approved the project and to solicit bids which would be returned by September 21st, 2017.
