Oskaloosa Health Fair makes a fun stop at the Elementary

The health fair at Oskaloosa Elementary was held Monday evening with fun and information for all ages
Oskaloosa residents were invited to a night of fun and learning at the Oskaloosa Elementary School Monday evening, February 28.
There were displays from a wide variety of local businesses and organizations ranging from some wonderful smelling food served up by chef Jeff from William Penn, to displays from the Mahaska County Conservation. The Boosters were on hand, and the new stadium project was being promoted to those who walked by.
The ISU Extension office offered tips on healthy living and businesses such as Work Systems Rehab offered information on how they could help you become and stay healthy. My personal weakness of popcorn was being served up by the PTO of Oskaloosa.
Mahaska Health Partnership had multiple displays, showing the effects of smoking, and poisons and many other ways to help improve your well being. Cathy Stahl, Marketing and Development Director for Mahaska Health Partnership said “We’re all real excited to come out, and we tried to get things that are kind of kid focused. Stop smoking, we have nutrition, our community health department and then infection control that is showing them about hand washing.” There was a black light at the hand washing station that showed how well you cleaned your hands to help illustrate proper hand washing techniques.
If you missed this Health Fair, hopefully you will be able to attend one of the future ones coming soon to the Oskaloosa area.
