Oskaloosa Girls Season Comes to End in Loss to Fairfield
by Matt Saville
Oskaloosa, Iowa – This season has been beyond frustrating for the Osky girls basketball team as they lost in the opening round district game to the Fairfield Trojans 67-32. The loss ends the season for the Indians, who finish with a 3 -19 record.
Like with the rest of the season, the lady Indians found themselves in an early hole and just never could recover. Turnovers and poor shooting were once again troublesome for Osky. The Indians were once again led by sophomore Alexis Westercamp who had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
There were still good things that came out of the season. Oskaloosa was in a couple of contest for the majority of the games where they did learn to compete on a more consistent basis.
Some of the season leaders for the Indians were: sophomore Alexis Westercamp leading the way at 12.2 pts., 9 rebs., and 25 total blocks; Senior Taylor Richardson with 11.6 pts., 2.2 rebs., 53 assist and 36 steals; Senior Asia Laudermilch with 5.1 pts., 5.4 rebs., and 30 steals; Sophomore Paige Howard with 4.3 pts., 3.4 rebs., and 34 assist; and Senior Aleda Renter with 3.6 rebs. and 29 steals.
Oskaloosa says goodbye to three seniors: Taylor Richardson, Aleda Renter and Asia Laudermilch. Oskaloosa will look to build some momentum coming into next season led by Westercamp and Howard.
