Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Girl Scouts enjoyed celebrating the 100th birthday of Girl Scouts of America at their 2nd annual Just Desserts auction. The National Birthday of Girl Scouts is celebrated each year on March 12. This day commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization’s first eighteen members in Savannah, Georgia.

The day started out with girl scouts turning in their baked items for the auction. As they waited for the results from the cake judging they sang Happy Birthday to Girl Scouts of America and soon found lots to do. Face painting, hair coloring, craft tables, dancing and a make your own peep table were several options the girls could choose from. Barnyard Billy was very popular with all of his balloon surprises and the kids lined up for their balloon wonder.

Lots of sweet treats could be found throughout center court as birthday cake was served to everyone in attendance and a buy it now table with a huge selection was available.

Oskaloosa scouts sold a total of 22, 515 boxes of cookie which made them the top selling group in the service units of around 100 girls. Oskaloosa did have 1 girl make the top 25 sellers in the state. Brooke Allen was 15th in the state with a total of 990 packages sold.
