OSKALOOSA ELKS TO HONOR VETERANS
Throughout the history of the United States, men and women have served their country to help preserve the freedoms provided American citizens. Veterans are invited to attend a pork roast dinner at the Oskaloosa Elks Lodge, 202 2nd Avenue East, this Veterans Day. The dinner is free to area veterans. A free will donation will be accepted from non-veterans. Reservations are requested. Dinner will be served Friday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. Local musician Gary Van Patten will perform live at the Elks following the dinner.
“One of the many service projects the Elks perform is honoring veterans,” said Debbie Doty of the Oskaloosa Elks Lodge. “Being raised an Army brat and also the wife of a veteran, I have seen the sacrifices some of these brave men and women make while serving their countries. This dinner is a way the Oskaloosa Elks can show our respect and thanks for these veterans’ service.”
The dinner will consist of roast pork loin, green beans, mashed potatoes and dessert. Doty does ask that people attending the dinner make reservations by Nov. 9 so the Elks can be sure to prepare enough food. Reservations can be made by calling Debbie at 641-673-4173. Leave a message with how many people will be attending with your party.
