Oskaloosa City Council Accepts Sculpture Donation

The council has accepted the donation of a sculputre “The Waiting Game” from Fine Arts and Cultural Events of Mahaska County.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The council approved a contract with Garden and Associates Ltd. for the Lacey Roadway Improvement Project.

On September 5, 2017, the Oskaloosa City Council authorized a professional services agreement with Garden and Associates to prepare plans and specifications for the Lacey Roadway Improvement Project in an amount not to exceed $85,865.00.

Additional engineering consulting services are required for the construction inspection services of the Lacey Roadway Improvement Project, and Garden and Associates has prepared and presented Amendment No. 1 to that original agreement by adding construction inspection services.

The added services increase the contract amount by $125,000.00 and not to exceed a total contract amount of $210,865.00

The motion was approved unanimously.

The council also accepted the donation of a sculpture “The Waiting Game” from Fine Arts and Cultural Events of Mahaska County.

The sculpture is created by Steven Huffman and is currently on display near the Oskaloosa Fire Station, and would be installed in that location permanently.

The sculpture is valued at $7,800 with the base and planter being valued at $2,778.50.

The motion passed unanimously to accept the donation.

The council also approved the following items:

*A resolution amending the 2018 Fee Schedule. Walling was the lone dissenting vote.

*Passed a site plan for the development of a Farm Credit Services of America retail office building to be located at 2064 245th Street. (D Avenue West)

*Approved an amendment to City of Oskaloosa Ordinance No. 1015 Marge Addition Master Plan.
