Oskaloosa City Band Welcomes The Vanguard Cadets Tonight

The Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps will be special guests of the Oskaloosa City Band on Thursday evening, performing on the square at 7:30 pm. The Vanguard Cadets are in Oskaloosa for a mid-tour camp in final preparation for the DCI open class finals in Indiana August 3-4. They will be rehearsing at the Lacey Stadium Tuesday evening, Wednesday, and Thursday. Their rehearsals are open to the public. The community is also invited to watch their final dress rehearsal at the Lacey Stadium on Thursday evening at 9:30 pm. The Oskaloosa City Band will perform on Thursday at 8 p.m. on the city’s historic bandstand. Soloist, Andrea Dursky will join the band for several pieces, including: I Dreamed A Dream, It’s a Grand Night For Singing, and Za-Ga-Zig’s Iowa Corn Song. This year marks Andrea’s final season singing with the city band, as she has announced her retirement after a 39 year commitment.
The Oskaloosa High School Cheer Squad will join the band for the school song and will hold their final Ice Cream Bar fundraiser of the season. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and invite friends and neighbors (and newcomers) to enjoy Oskaloosa’s Sweet Corn Serenade and the City Band concert.
