If you are a fan of sweet corn and the Oskaloosa City Band, Thursday’s combination will be perfect! The Oskaloosa City Band will perform at 8 p.m. during Sweet Corn Serenade. If you missed last week’s concert, you missed a memorable experience as the square was filled with RAGBRAI riders and locals alike.

The band will play a variety of marches by favorites such as Henry Filmore, Karl King, and John Philip Sousa. The concert will include a few tunes not yet heard this summer, interspersed with some favorites played earlier in the season. As tradition dictates, no Sweet Corn Serenade is complete without Za-Ga-Zig’s Iowa Corn Song. The band encourages the audience to sing along on the chorus…”We’re from I-O-way, I-O-way. State of all the land. Joy on every hand. We’re from I-O-way, I-O-way. That’s where the tall corn grows.” All are invited to attend and sing along with the band.

After this week, only one more concert remains before the summer band season draws to a close.
