Dr. Bob Stouffer will be serving as Principal for the 2014-15 school year at Oskaloosa Christian School.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Change or transition can be a difficult time for any individual or group. Oskaloosa Christian School was looking to help make that transition as easy as possible by introducing the school’s new principal, Dr. Bob Stouffer, to the students and staff Monday morning.

The Christian School’s current principal, Jason Alons, has taken a position in Northwest Iowa, where he will serve in a similar role at the Orange City Christian School.

Stouffer, who comes to Oskaloosa via the Des Moines Christian School, was the Superintendent there for the past 14 years.

Joel Groenenboom, Chairman of the Oskaloosa Christian School Board, had initially reached out to Stouffer for recommendations on who may want to be a Christian school administrator, “and me responding right to that email, with, well, I might be available.”

“It all just seemed right,” said Stouffer. “A good fit. God’s in it. When God’s in it, God will bless it.”

Stouffer, who has high school age experience primarily, said, “This will be new for me, to be the leader of an early ed through eighth building. So I have a lot to learn from the people here internally.”

Stouffer, who has worked both in public and Christian schools, said that being a part of the Christian school education system made him, just thrilled to be able to fully exercise my faith as a leader of the school, to pray anytime, anywhere.”

He also said that having his Bible on his desk in full view versus having to be more subtle about it being on his desk at a public school system is also something he enjoys about working in a Christian school versus public.

“To integrate Biblical truth into every program literally,” said Stouffer. “The fact that you can do everything biblically in a Christian school is pretty amazing. The fact that every employee is a Christian. You start from that base… To share the same value system, a Christian worldview, a biblical world view, it’s pretty phenomenal. If you never experienced it, it’s hard for me to describe.”

“I have a huge passion for Christian education. I began following Christ as a 36-year-old, so I am trying to make up for lost time with my desire to infuse biblical truth into every nook and cranny of life and education. I know Oskaloosa Christian is absolutely committed to that same desire, which is what makes Christ-centered, biblically-directed education so distinct and valuable,” Stouffer said.

Joel Groenenboom, Chairman of the Oskaloosa Christian School Board, said, “Oskaloosa Christian School is excited to have Dr. Stouffer come join our staff. His range of experience in both public and non-public schools will help us as we strive to live up to the full potential of the Purpose and Mission of Oskaloosa Christian School. We believe he is the right person to help us as we not only maintain our high level of academic achievement, but continue to raise it by challenging each and every student. He also has all the skills to help us as we build community in the City of Oskaloosa and the surrounding area.”
