Oskaloosa Christian Announces Principal

The Board of Oskaloosa Christian School is pleased to announce that Mr. Joel Rietema has signed a two-year contract to serve as our principal. Mr. Rietema was employed as our interim principal this past school year and we now welcome him to this permanent position.

Joel Rietema is a lifelong Christian school student, supporter, and educator. He comes to us most recently from teaching 8 years of Bible at Pella Christian High. Prior to that, Joel served as a Resident Director at Colorado Christian University and Covenant College. He also taught for 5 years in California to begin his education career after graduating from Calvin University in 2002. Joel also holds a Masters in Youth and Family Counseling from Denver Seminary. He is currently pursuing an administration degree from Dordt University.

Joel is married to Abigail and they have 5 children: Brandt, Cooper, Annika, Charlotte, and Bennett. Their family enjoys going on walks, traveling to see family and friends, and keeping up with the Iowa Hawkeye sports teams.

One of Joel’s passions is serving families in their desire for Christian education that is rooted in biblical truth and prepares students to be effective disciples of Christ outside the walls of the classroom. One of his favorite bible verses is:

“We loved you so much we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8
