Orman Stevens

Deep River. Orman Stevens, 86 of Deep River passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Deep River. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a time for memory sharing beginning at 7:00 pm. Interment will be held in the Community Cemetery in Millersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Deep River Calvary Lutheran Church or the Deep River Fire Department.

Orman Walter Stevens, son of Lloyd and Blanche (Wymore) Stevens was born on February 5, 1925 in Barnes City, Iowa. He attended Country School in the Barnes City area. On March 15, 1951, Orman was united in marriage to Beulah Clark in New Sharon. To this union two children were born, Dan and Becky. They later divorced. He was then married to Della Martin on September 15, 1978 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Deep River. Orman was a farmhand in the Barnes City and Gibson area. He also cleaned houses for Grimm Real Estate in North English. Orman was an avid Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed watching baseball; especially the Cardinals and Cubs. Orman loved fishing, deer hunting, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, Della Stevens of Deep River; his daughter, Becky (Allen) Hoksbergen of Muleshoe, TX; his son, Dan Stevens; his sister, Charlene (Marcus) Morgan of Aurora, CO; a step-son, Dennis (Debbie) Martin of Keswick; four granddaughters, Heather (Tim Clemens) Davis, Heidi (Jeff) Powers, Hillary (Frank) Elko and Billie Sue (Blaine) Stout; two step-grandchildren, Jason (Tammy) Molyneux and Jennifer (Jake) Molyneux; 20 great grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.

Orman is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Norman Stevens and Delmar Stevens and a great granddaughter, My Kenna Acord.
