by Jessica Weinreich

The OHS speech team had a fantastic showing at district contest at Pella this past Saturday. Six of our eight teams will he moving on to represent us at state, held at Cedar Rapids Kennedy on Feb. 5.

(A* means a student is qualifying in two events)
In group improv:
*Myles Strait, *Ally Nolan, *Grace Moore
*Brooke Richardson, Abby Lindgren, *Elliot Nelson
*Brianna Hunt, Brenna Lindgren, *Cierra Williams, *Olivia Muir

In our very first group mime:
Gwyn Utterback, Connor VanDerWal, Marshall Smith, *Brooke Richardson, *Grace Moore

In readers theater:
Rachel Frost and *Elliot Nelson

In short film:
*Myles Strait, *Ally Nolan, *Olivia Muir, *Brianna Hunt, *Cierra Williams, and Callie Lindgren

While choral reading (Aaron Scholes, Callie Lindgren, Brenna Lindgren, Rachel McCombs, Madison Chamberlin, Emma Adams) will not be moving on, they had a fantastic performance – probably their best so far, and I am pleased with what they did.

I am also extremely proud of Jayden Overton for his TV News. While it, too, will not be progressing to the next level, I have never seen a student so dedicated to his craft and continuing to learn and improve.
