OHS Girls Track At Grinnell

The girls had a wonderful night to compete at Grinnell. The team came away with a second place finish 24 points behind Pella. There were 9 new personal records set and 6 season best relays set!!

First place finishes included:
Faith DeRonde in the Shot Put and the Discus
Maleah Walker in the Long Jump and 100 m dash
Jordan Czerwinski in the 400 m hurdles
4×200 Relay of Macie Krier, Jordan Czerwinski, Faith DeRonde and Maleah Walker ran a time of 1:48.14 which moved up to second place on the All time top 10 list bumping a team from 1982 of Andra Bellus, Julie VanWyk, Michelle Blom, Sheri Martin off the top ten list.

The second place finishes included:
Gracie DeRonde in the Long Jump
Hannah Quang in the High Jump and 100 m hurdles
The Shuttle Hurdle Relay of Hayley VanArkel, Emmalee Well-Stout, Lydia VanVeldhuizen and Hannah Quang who ran a season best time.
The 4×100 team of Czerwinski, F DeRonde, A Thompson and M Walker cracked the All time top 10 list with their time of 51.38 improving on the Drake Relays qualifying time.
The Distance Medley Relay of Maddy Moorman, Lydia VanVeldhuizen, Hannah Quang and Sage Adam who ran a season best time.

Another highlight of the night was the 4×800 took 20 seconds off their previous season best! The team consisted of Addi Carter, Gracie DeRonde, Anna Coniglio and Evelyn Adam.

It was great to see the team having so much success. The team is back in action on Thursday at Pella.

The Drake Relays start on Thursday with Faith DeRonde throwing the shot put. On Friday, Maleah will run the 100 m dash and compete in the Long Jump and Faith will throw the Discus and then on Saturday morning the 4×100 relay (Czerwinski, F DeRonde, Thompson & Walker) will take to the Blue Oval.
