NO. 15 WARRIORS SPLIT IN SEASON OPENER

Council Bluffs, IA – No. 15 nationally ranked Indian Hills Volleyball opened up its 2026 campaign with an opening day split at the Reiver Classic. The Warriors dropped Eastern Wyoming College in four sets before falling 3-0 to No. 18 ranked College of Southern Idaho in the nightcap.
Making its season debut in Council Bluffs, the Warriors handled Eastern Wyoming by set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 22-25, and 29-27 to secure the win in the first all-time meeting between the two clubs. Southern Idaho, also matching up vs. the Warriors for the first time, took the second match in straight sets, 25-15, 25-23, and 27-25.
Indian Hills used a well-rounded offensive attack in the opener to drop the Lancers. Sophomore Amelia Polojanska (Gizycko, Poland/X Liceum Ogólnokształcące Mistrzostwa Sportowego) paced the offense with a career-high 16 kills on 39 attempts in addition to a pair of service aces. Freshman Jovi Evans (Kalona, IA/Mid-Prairie) added 11 kills and nine digs for the Warriors in her season-opener.
Sophomore Ana Silva (Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil/Major Aviador José Mariotto) tallied a career-high 40 assists in the victory while adding four block assists. Maria Victoria De Mendonca (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Pinheiro Guimaraes) aided the defense with a career-high 19 digs while Caroline Le Mao (Douarnenez, France/ESG) contributed with five block assists and eight kills.
In the first all-time meeting with Southern Idaho, the Warriors fell behind early and struggled to catch up to the Golden Eagles. Polojanska once again powered the offense with 11 kills.
Freshman Sofia Silveira (Lisbon, Portugal/António Damásio) stepped into the setter role and tallied 22 assists and a team-high three service aces in the loss. Kanade Yamagishi (Osaka, Japan/Kochi Chuo) paced the defense with 11 digs to go along with two aces.
Indian Hills will wrap up play at the Reiver Classic Friday afternoon with a pair of quality matchups. The Warriors will take on No. 3 ranked Northeastern Junior College (CO) at 11:00 AM and Dodge City Community College (KS) at 4:00 PM.
