NO. 11 WARRIORS BLANK NO. 15 BADGERS IN HOME OPENER

Ottumwa, IA – Behind a stellar defensive performance paired with an offensive outburst, the No. 11 Indian Hills Women’s Soccer squad rolled past No. 15 Snow College (UT) on day three of the IHCC Classic on Saturday. The Warriors move to 2-0-1 on the year.
Indian Hills has now earned a result in the team’s last 11 home openers, boasting a 10-0-1 record during the stretch that dates back to 2016. The Warriors are now 11-2-3 in the tam’s last 16 matches at their annual home classic event.
The win over the ranked Badgers is the first victory over a top-15 opponent since defeating then-No. 15 Motlow Community College (TN) 2-1 in 2024.
Kieara Trujillo-Garcia (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho) powered the offense with a pair of goals, the freshman’s third and fourth tally of the year. Fellow freshman Pamela Martin (Maracay, Venezuela/Dawere International) was credited with the team’s second goal of the match.
Inbetween the pipes, sophomore Annabelle Combes (Marseille, France/Tezenas du Montcel) provided a remarkable performance to anchor the Warriors to the shutout. Combes stopped a career-high nine shots in net, including a series of highlight-reel stops. With the complete game shutout, Combes now moves into a tie for second place all-time at Indian Hills with six career solo shutouts.
The Warrior defense clamped down on the Badgers throughout the match as Snow held a sizable 23-5 shots advantage, including a 9-4 edge in shots on goal. The Badgers also held a 10-5 margin in corner kicks.
Trujillo-Garcia opened up the scoring in the 18th minute as Trujillo-Garcia corralled a loose ball inside the box before firing a shot to the far corner for the eventual game-winner. The initial ball came from the foot of Mary Brown (Melbourne, Australia/Our Lady of Mercy College) on a free kick for the Warriors.
Martin followed up just over three minutes later at the 20:44 mark as the freshman rifled a shot from the top of the box to beat the outstretched arms of Snow keeper, Tess Peterson.
Trujillo-Garcia was credited with her first-career brace at the 54:34 mark as the freshman teamed up with Brown once again. Brown’s corner kick found its way in front of the net before Trujillo-Garcia tapped home the team’s third score of the match.
The Warriors will now head to the state of Wyoming for three matches in five days. Indian Hills opens up play at Western Wyoming Community College at 1:00 PM on September 2.
