NO. 1 WARRIORS DRAW WITH LAKERS ON THE ROAD

Spencer, IA – No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men’s Soccer, the 2025 defending National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men’s Soccer National Champions, opened the 2026 campaign with a 2-2 draw at Iowa Lakes Community College on Thursday.
The Warriors erased an early 1-0 deficit with back-to-back goals in the second half to pull ahead. Iowa Lakes converted a free kick into a goal in the 79th minute for the equalizer, a deadlock neither side could break the remainder of the match.
Indian Hills extends its unbeaten streak to five matches against the perennial NJCAA DII national contenders with the result on Thursday. The Warriors have now earned a result in each of the last four season-opening matches.
Freshman goalkeeper Sean Suzuki (Sydney, Australia/Chatswood) earned the result in net for the Warriors. Making his collegiate debut between the pipes, Suzuki stopped four shots in net.
Iowa Lakes opened the match with a quick strike in the 7th minute to take the early 1-0 advantage. The two sides went scoreless through the remainder of the opening half.
Indian Hills broke free in the 50th minute as sophomore Furkan Cengizay (Randers, Denmark/Tadium Handelsgymnasiet Randers) netted his first collegiate goal at the 49:53 mark. Cengizay corralled a loose ball outside the Laker box before firing a strike from beyond 20 yards to beat the Iowa Lakes keeper.
Less than 12 minutes later, the Warriors found the back of the net again as Indian Hills drew a foul in the box at the 61:34 mark to set up a penalty kick. Sophomore Leo Morley-Robertson (Colchester, England/Central CC), a NJCAA All-American last season, stepped up and buried the shot to the far side of the net for a 2-1 advantage.
Indian Hills’ lead lasted just under 18 minutes as Iowa Lakes put home a free kick from 25 yards out in the 79th minute. Both sides battled throughout the duration of the match, but the nationally ranked clash ended in a draw.
Indian Hills returns to action Monday afternoon for a neutral-site matchup vs. Dodge City Community College (KS) in Baldwin City, KS. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM.
