NM Edged by Tigerhawks

COLFAX – North Mahaska had trouble with the pitching of Colfax-Mingo’s Cael Bracewell Monday. The Tigerhawk fanned 18 NM batters to earn a 3-2 South Iowa Cedar League victory. North Mahaska’s Nolan Andersen also had a respectable night on the mound striking out 10 batters.

Neither team was able to score through the first three innings. In the bottom of the fourth the Tigerhawks found home plate twice then added what was the winning run in the bottom of the fifth. NM scored a run on the top of the sixth and the seventh but was unable to rally back.

Lucas Nunnikhoven hit a double and triple. Ryan Groom and Jack Kelderman each singled. Dane Van Mersbergen had the lone RBI for the Warhawks.

Andersen went the distance walking one and hitting a batter. He scattered six hits.

Bracewell allowed just the four hits.

North Mahaska will play at East Marshall on Thursday then will host English Valleys Monday, July 1 and close out the regular season July 2 at Oskaloosa.
