NAIA Releases Second Set of Wrestling Polls

Oskaloosa–Five Statesmen wrestlers are ranked within the conference as the NAIA released its second set of polls this week.

John Altieri (Jr., Warwick, R.I., Sociology) continues to guide WPU’s grapplers, sitting 10th nationally at 125 pounds. His ranking helps the navy and gold to #42 in the NAIA with 11 points. Grand View is still first with 155 points, but Missouri Valley has closed the gap considerably with 144 points. Indiana Tech (133), Menlo (Calif.) (107), and Life (Ga.) (97) round out the top five.

Altieri is also the top-rated Statesmen wrestler in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, currently ranking second. Jason Beebe (Fr., Oskaloosa, Iowa), at 174 pounds, and Sheldon Rodriguez (So., Tampa, Fla., Biology), at 197 pounds, are both fifth, while 133-pounder Darquell Pierre (So., St. Petersburg, Fla., Sociology) and 149-pounder Kionte Crocker (Sr., Brandon, Fla., Industrial Technology) are both sixth.

William Penn is sixth out of the seven teams with 62 points, while Missouri Valley has leap-frogged past Grand View at the top of the league standings, 209-198.
