In a declaration of its commitment to the local community, Musco Corporation, a global leader in innovative lighting solutions, unveiled ambitious plans for a significant expansion of its Oskaloosa campus. The groundbreaking ceremony, which took place with key stakeholders, signifies a pivotal moment for the company and the city of Oskaloosa.

Musco Corporation’s story began nearly five decades ago when founders Joe Crookham and Myron Gordon embarked on a journey that would transform their modest startup into what it is today.

The company’s humble beginnings in a 5,000-square-foot building with a handful of team members have evolved, with Musco expanding to a sprawling 170,000-square-foot campus in Oskaloosa and a global workforce of approximately 1,600, including 700 team members based locally.

Oskaloosa’s community spirit and support have played a pivotal role in Musco’s growth. Key collaborations, such as those with William Penn University, have been instrumental in fueling Musco’s continuous innovation and talent pipeline.

Founder Joe Crookham acknowledged the pivotal role that the community has played in Musco’s success. “Oskaloosa has been a great place for us to grow and develop,” he said, “we’ve been able to attract and retain team members. Oskaloosa is a great place for them to be able to live and grow their families. We thank Oskaloosa, all of you, for making it that kind of a place.”

The groundbreaking ceremony signaled the launch of a groundbreaking project, both literally and figuratively. Musco Corporation is set to embark on a transformative journey that will see the addition of 90,000 square feet of corporate office space to its existing Oskaloosa campus. This expansion project is a testament to Musco’s commitment to its roots, symbolizing its intent to remain an integral part of the Oskaloosa community.

Jeff Rogers, CEO of Musco Corporation, thanked the dedicated Musco team for their unwavering commitment during this transition period and acknowledged the significant challenges ahead. Rogers emphasized the values the company’s founders instilled: “In business, we do what’s right because it’s right. We support the community as it’s a very special place.”

The expansion project, estimated to span approximately two years, will undoubtedly bring its share of road closures and disruptions to the area. However, the long-term benefits far outweigh these temporary inconveniences.

Mayor Dave Krutzfeldt expressed his gratitude for Musco’s commitment to Oskaloosa. He noted that the company’s investment in the city has positively influenced various aspects of life, from job creation and downtown revitalization to education and healthcare. Krutzfeldt stated, “On behalf of the City of Oskaloosa, thank you to the Musco ownership and executive team for its commitment to expand here. We look forward to many years of growth and economic success.”

Musco Corporation’s expansion symbolizes a renewed commitment to Oskaloosa’s community. As the company progresses with its plans, it underscores its role as a cornerstone of Oskaloosa’s business community, contributing not only to economic growth but also to the cultural and social fabric of the city.
