Morris Trabert, 95, of Sigourney, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. Morris Clair Trabert was born July 30, 1922 in Primrose, Iowa the son of Lawrence and Ada Lauer Trabert.

Morris grew up in Primrose, graduating there from eighth grade.

Morris worked as a general laborer and carpenter in his adult life, moving to Douds, Iowa in the early 1950’s. He began raising horses about that time and continued to train and race horses most of his life. Morris moved to What Cheer in the early 1960’s and lived at the fairgrounds where he harness raced for many years.

He loved all things baseball and going to auctions looking for collectibles. He also loved to visit with friends and had plenty of jokes to share with them. In December of 2012 Morris moved to the Delta Senior Housing and then to the Manor House Care Center in April of 2013.

Morris is survived by two nephews, Dennis (& Peggy) DeRosear of Hamilton, IL and Douglas (& Connie) DeRosear of Ft. Madison. He also leaves behind two close friends, Dave and Lila Prell of Delta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Erma DeRosear.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Primrose Cemetery near Donnellson, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Keokuk County Fair Board.
