MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership is pleased to welcome Dr. Bridget Shariat to its Medical Staff. Dr. Shariat is a Family Practice Physician who will also be delivering babies.

“Dr. Shariat is a wonderful addition to the physicians currently providing obstetrical care at Mahaska Health Partnership,” MHP Birthing Center Director Chyann Vroegh said. “We have a lot to offer our patients with our current delivering physicians, Dr. Shariat and the anticipated arrival of Dr. Lisa Ruckman this winter; not to mention the opening of our new Birthing Center this fall.

“The new Birthing Center features larger patient rooms and amenities such as whirlpool tubs and in-room refrigerators as well as all the current offerings our patients enjoy such as free wifi, room service dining and a family-centered environment,” Vroegh explained.

Dr. Shariat will be re-locating to Oskaloosa from Denver, Colo., where she has been completing her family practice residency. “I am so excited to be part of this community,” Dr. Shariat shared. “I grew up in Nashville and now live in Denver; both cities are so large; I look forward to seeing familiar faces when I’m out and about and having an opportunity to get involved.”

Dr. Shariat decided to specialize in family practice during medical school. “I love the idea of taking care of mom and baby, getting to know dad and taking care of grandma too,” Dr. Shariat explained. “It makes me a better doctor because I have an understanding of all facets of my patients’ health history from which to base my care recommendations.”

In her practice, Dr. Shariat strives to develop relationships with her patients. “I genuinely enjoy talking to people and getting to know their story,” Dr. Shariat said. “I’m slow to speak because I want to hear from my patients what their needs are. My goal is to partner with them for the betterment of their overall health.”

Dr. Shariat received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Va. She completed a three year residency at Rose Family Medicine in Denver, Colo.; where she was Chief Resident in addition to serving on committees for mentoring, curriculum development and cultural competencies.

“The addition of Dr. Shariat brings our provider roster to 20; delivering on our commitment to make access to the primary care you and your family need easier and more convenient,” MHP CEO Jay Christensen stressed.

Dr. Shariat will begin seeing patients on the MHP campus in early August. Appointments are now being scheduled for primary care and obstetrical visits. For an appointment, please call 641.672.3360.
