MHP Public Health Wants To Help Parents
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Mahaska Health Partnership has initiated a program at Smokey Row called ‘Grow at the Row’.
Helping the public by reaching out to parents and caregivers in the community to “let them know about parenting things”, says Ann Smith with Mahaska Health Partnership.
Those items being discussed last week were childhood illnesses and mosquito bite prevention. Previously, vaccines were discussed.
“It’s just to help partner with the parents to become better parents, better caregivers”, says Smith.
This past week was the second in the series, and there are topics of discussion picked through July, which will be on the fourth Tuesday. A new time for the next installment is being investigated to better serve those interested in the programming.
“We will always have muffins and coffee, and it’s just a great time to network; and the public health nurses will have time for questions and answers”, says Smith. “Public Health really wants to be more involved with the community.”
