Maxine Myers, 101 of Oskaloosa, passed away peacefully Friday morning, July 14, 2017 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Maxine Graham Myers, the daughter of Vern and Anna (Graham) Larkins, was born on May 15, 1916 in Lacey, Iowa.
Maxine attended Lower Grove Country School. On October 11, 1938, Maxine was united in marriage to Homer P. Myers in Oskaloosa, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Robert and June Anne.
Maxine was a homemaker and lived 52 years in Moline, IL before moving to Oskaloosa in 2006. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening with her husband Homer and taking walks. Family was very important to Maxine. She was a resident of White Oak in Oskaloosa for several years where she truly enjoyed their activities.
Her memory will be honored by her grandchildren, Lori Myers-Petersen of Russell and Daniel Myers of Cedar Rapids; two great grandchildren, Tanner Myers and Delani Myers; one sister, Melba (& Carol) Saunders of Hudson, Wisconsin; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Myers in 2001; her son, Robert Myers in 1990; an infant daughter, June Anne Myers; a grandson, Scott E. Myers; two brothers, Owen Larkins and Omer Larkins; three sisters: Lorena Craig, Wanda Beal and Thelma Patterson; and a grandson-in-law, Henry Petersen.
Graveside services will begin at 2:00 pm Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to White Oak Estates Activities Department.
