Master Gardener Announce 2018 Hortline Hours

The Mahaska County Master Gardeners are staffing the summer season Hortline Service for area homeowners and garden enthusiasts. The Hortline, staffed by Master Gardener volunteers and Suzette Striegel, Mahaska County Extension Horticulturist, will be open Tuesday 9-11 am and 1-3 pm Memorial Day-Labor Day. The Mahaska County Master Gardeners have welcomed clients’ horticulture inquires at the Mahaska County Extension office during the summer since 2014.

You may speak to a Master Gardener by calling 641-673-5841, emailing Suzette Striegel striegel@iastate.edu, or stop by the Mahaska County Extension office located at 212 North I Street, Oskaloosa. Master Gardener can assist you with questions ranging from lawn care to fruit/vegetable production to ornamentals to pest management and much more.

Mahaska County Master Gardeners are celebrating their fifthteenth year. The local program organized after the county held their first training. The educational volunteer program, sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, provides current, research based, home horticulture information and education to the citizens of Iowa through programs and projects. Master Gardeners receive horticulture training, and volunteer to promote a mission of education and service. The Master Gardner training program is open to anyone 18 or older with an interest in gardening and a willingness to use their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to make a positive impact on their local community!
