Mary Wims, 62, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella. She was born March 17, 1955, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of James and Pauline Vance Wims.

Following high school graduation, she worked various places. She had a caring heart and caring for people. She enjoyed working as a C.N.A. so much, that she returned to college to become a Registered Nurse. She completed her R.N. training at Indian Hills Community College. Mary worked for many years as an in-home health nurse.

She loved animals and was especially fond of her dog. As a final gift of caring and generosity, Mary was a tissue donor.

Her family includes her four children: Brent Repp of Oskaloosa, Eddie (& Johnette) Covington of Ventress, Lousiana, Marvin “Andy” (& Tara) Sheets of Carlisle, and Felecia (& Brian) Schnoebelen of Pella; six grandchildren: Raven Repp, William Covington, Chloe Sheets, Kaitlyn Sheets, Christopher Taylor, and Jasmine Schnoebelen; a brother, Michael Wims of Sheridan, Colorado; three sisters: Sherry Wims (& Dave) of Chicago, Marcia Pinkston of Elburn, Illinois, and Janet Todd of Elgin, Illinois; her aunt, “Auntie” Lois Fulk of Oskaloosa; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James Wims.

Visitation with the family present will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018, from 10–12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa.
As was Mary’s wish her body has been cremated.
A private family burial will be held at the Coal Creek Cemetery southwest of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Stephen’s Memorial Animal Shelter.
