Martha “Marty” Davis, 59, of Hedrick died Monday, August 20, 2018, at her home in Hedrick. She was born May 5, 1959, in Marseilles, Illinois, the daughter of William L. and Doris Kendall Sparks.

Marty graduated from Marseilles High School with the class of 1977. Following graduation, she attended two years of college. After those two years she worked various places in Illinois.

In 2000, she moved to Hedrick with her future husband Paul Davis. On December 3, 2003, the two of them were married in Eddyville, Iowa.

Marty worked for several years at Dr. Vithespongse Family Practice in Hedrick. She retired from there in 2018, due to health reasons.

Marty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ottumwa. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, especially with their Gold Wing Group, and collecting Volkswagens. Marty had a lifelong love for all animals, her fur baby army will be lost at home without her. She delighted in spending time with her family and friends.

Her family includes her husband, Paul Davis of Hedrick; her son, Dustin (& Emily) Spray of Illinois; two step children: Derek (& Heather) Davis and Desi Davis, all of Eddyville; two grandchildren: Emma and Macie Davis, and one on the way; a brother, Stephen (& Pat) Sparks of Illinois; and an aunt and uncle, Linda and Tom Wiess of Illinois.

Marty was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother in law, Ernie and Wanda Davis; and a brother in law, Frank Davis.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with Pastor Mark Eigsti officiating.
Burial will be in the Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until service time at 10:30 at the Fremont Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Heartland Humane Society.
