Marie Elizabeth Bay, age 71, of Albia, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at her home in Albia. Marie was born on December 1, 1947, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia, to Joseph and Audria (Sevedge) Silverio.

Marie grew up and attended school in Hiteman and later graduated from the Albia High School with the Class of 1966.

On June 4, 1966, she married Robert Bay at the First Methodist Church in Albia. To this union, 3 children were born, Joe, Steve, and Teresa. Marie and Robert shared 52 years of marriage prior to her passing.

Marie worked at the Video and Office Supply store on the Albia square and was also a homemaker. She was very talented and enjoyed crafts, making jewelry, crocheting, and knitting. She loved to read and delighted in traveling to see her children. Marie loved her pets, Duke, Rusty, and Miss Kitty. Above all, Marie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her husband, Robert Bay of Albia, 3 children: Joe (& Jacqueline) Bay of Albia, Teresa (& James) Rossbach of Chatham, IL, and Steve Bay of St. Petersburg, IL; 5 grandchildren: Robert (and fiancée Jenifer), Jeffrey, Jessica, Nathaniel, and Jonathan; and a sister, Emma (& Bob) Whitlock of Indianola. Marie is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Audria Silverio; a brother, Jim Silverio; and a sister, Fannie Ewing.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Marie’s family present from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. to greet family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Roger Henry officiating.
Burial will follow services at Hayden Chapel Cemetery in Monroe County.
A memorial has been established to the Humane Society.
