Oskaloosa, Iowa – MWC monthly community walks continue on the first Friday of each month at noon. The next walk will be April 6 at noon at Penn Central Mall. Walk participants are encouraged to walk for a minimum of 15 minutes, which normally equates to 1 mile. Representatives of the Mahaska Wellness Coalition will be on hand to meet community participants and answer various wellness questions. Again, Hy-Vee will have salads, fruit cups, and water available for purchase after the walk to ensure a healthy lunch on your way back to the office. Please join MWC on April 6 and “Step Along With Us!” In May the first-Friday walks will return to the downtown square. Plans are to have a group photo taken at noon celebrating the end of the Live Healthy Iowa 100 Day Wellness Challenge.

Mahaska Conservation continues to support the community walks by adding an outdoor option on the third Saturday monthly at 1 pm. April 21 join MCCB on a hike around the Russell Wildlife Area. This hike will be in the form of a “Poker Run”. While hiking the trails, participants will receive a poker card at each trail loop. Prizes will be given at the end of the hike for the best poker hand collected during the hike. There is no cost for this event. Live healthy Mahaska County!
