The public should not be alarmed by the significant police and fire presence at Mahaska Health campus

MAHASKA COUNTY – The Oskaloosa Police and Fire departments will conduct a major active shooter drill on the afternoon of Thursday, April 25 on the Mahaska Health campus. The drill will simulate a mass casualty event and will be designed to appear as realistic as possible in order to test the abilities of first responders.

Members of the public are asked to keep in mind that a drill is taking place that day and not become alarmed if you see a large number of police and fire vehicles, as well as ambulances and other emergency response vehicles, grouped together in larger numbers that afternoon.

If you are traveling in the vicinity of Mahaska Health on April 25 in the afternoon or visiting the hospital, please keep in mind that this drill is occurring. Signs will be posted at the site to remind motorists that what they are seeing is only a drill.
