MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership joins hospitals across the United States in celebrating National Healthcare Week, May 11-17. It is the largest healthcare event that celebrates the hospital’s providers and staff, services and history.
A healthcare facility is more than a place where people go to heal, it is part of the community, fostering health and representing wellness. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and growing community.
“National Healthcare Week, first and foremost, is a celebration of people,” MHP CEO Jay Christensen said. “We’re extremely proud of each member of our staff and we know the important role they play in building meaningful, lifelong relationships with our patients.”
According to Christensen, healthcare has a personal and very powerful role in the lives of every member of the community. At MHP, National Healthcare Week gives the health system an opportunity to connect staff members, patients and their family members to celebrate the great things happening every day.
“We have a lot to celebrate this year at MHP,” Christensen shared. “Our integration with Family Medical Center last July and the opening of our patient care wing in September were huge milestones for us. We also added many new providers, as well as employees. We recently upgraded our Electronic Medical Record system in order to better serve our patients and Radiology installed a new CT scanner in February. All of these changes have been made in order to improve our ability to care for the community and their growing healthcare needs.”
Christensen continued with the importance of key services in rural areas. “At MHP, we strive to meet the needs of our community, whether it is services we have right here on campus or brought in by visiting specialists on a regular basis. We are fortunate to be a Level III Trauma Center, which allows us to treat a wide range of medical emergencies thoroughly and rapidly. I am honored to work with such a great group of people to provide care to Mahaska County.”
