Oskaloosa, March 1, 2012 – The Mahaska County YMCA and the Dolphins Swim Team are proud to announce that 31 swimmers from the 2011-2012 squad have qualified for the state competition March 3 and 4 in Marshalltown, Iowa. This meet, held annually each year, is prized by many as the most competitive and important for a Y swimmer in his or her career. This year’s team boasts several swimmers competing at the state meet in both individual and relay events, with a number of them eyeing state records after breaking team records over the course of the year.

Swim Team coach Janet Reese reported, “The Dolphins Swim Team this year has been a pleasure to coach and be a part of. After working and practicing so hard this year, I have no doubts that the group of competitors swimming at the state meet will turnout exceptional times. The rest of the coaching staff and I are looking forward to seeing all the swimmers finish their seasons on a high note, and we hope that the dedicated Dolphin fans will continue to show their support as we finish out the year.”

The Mahaska County YMCA would also like to recognize this year’s coaching staff, for their commitment and dedication to the team. Without the efforts of these individuals, many of whom volunteer their time, the Dolphins Swim Team could not be as successful a program as it has become, year after year. Thanks to Janet Reese, Wade Bolibaugh, Mike Braman, Steve Olson and Rocio Bonilla for all their efforts.

As a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y works to ensure everyone has an opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. This philosophy drives the Mahaska County YMCA’s commitment to help children and adults experience the joy and benefits of aquatics programming.
