Mahaska County Emergency Management is pleased to announce the Unmet Needs Disaster Assistance Grant that is available to the citizens of Mahaska County.

Mahaska County Emergency Management

The Unmet Needs Disaster Assistance program provides qualified households with up to $2,500 in reimbursement for disaster-related expenditures or through a voucher to be used toward purchase of eligible disaster-related items and services.

Qualified uses may include items or services needed to overcome a disaster-related hardship, injury, or adverse condition resulting in costs or damages related to personal property, home repair, food assistance, child care or temporary housing.

Applicant households cannot receive assistance or reimbursement for disaster-related losses and expenditures already addressed through this program or other programs including, but not limited to: insurance, other state assistance, local community development groups, charities or faith-based agencies, the Small Business Administration (SBA) or the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Applicant households will work directly with Mahaska County Emergency Management to apply for assistance through the program. This program will continue through June 30, 2011 or upon exhaustion of available program funding, whichever is earliest.
