Lottie L. Gray Longcor was born in 1916 near Oskaloosa in a farmhouse known by her family as “the home place” which is now known as the Cedar Bluffs Natural Area. The Indian Sandstone bluffs bordered the timber where Lottie (and her siblings) played as a child, gathering wild flowers, berries, and mushrooms; activities which she later shared with her own children. She married John Franklin Longcor and gave birth to her first child Isabelle, there in her parent’s home, the farmhouse built by her papa. Lottie attended Opposition School, located below Weldon Cemetery, where her parents and family are now buried.

Lottie and Frank had five children. Isabelle Mae, (Mrs. Orval Miller, Cumming, Iowa), Frances Jean (Fred Gray, deceased, Duane Johnson, deceased), Mildred Lucille (Mrs. Matthew Rea, Tatum, Texas), Billie Irene (Mrs. William Watertor, Ames, Iowa) and John W. (Sue Wymore deceased and Cynthia Kueck, Ankeny, Iowa). Those five children gave her 15 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 55 great great grandchildren. She loved and cherished each and every one.

Lottie was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an officer of the Moose Lodge Womens Auxillary. She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin in 1978, daughter Frances and Fran’s daughter Cindy in 2003, and Isabelle’s son in Mark in 2008, and her great grandson Thomas James.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Willa Miller officiating.
Burial will be in the Weldon Cemetery near Bussey, Iowa.
Visitation will begin Saturday after 10:00 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa and the family will be present at the funeral chapel from 10:00 – 10:45 A.M. to greet friends and relatives. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 10:45 A.M.
Memorials may be made to the Beacon United Methodist Church in Beacon, Iowa.
