Lois Knowler, 98, of Oskaloosa died Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the Northern Mahaska Specialty Care Center in Oskaloosa. The daughter of Cecil and Lora McKanna Reynolds, Lois was born October 27, 1920, in rural Mahaska County near New Sharon.
Lois graduated from Lacey High School with the class of 1938.
On November 19, 1939, she was united in marriage to Robert Knowler in Oskaloosa.
Together, Lois and Robert farmed in the Lacey area. In addition to helping Robert on the farm, Lois was a devoted mother who took meticulous care of her home. In 1986, Robert and Lois retired from farming and moved into Oskaloosa. Robert died on April 1, 2000.
Lois was always very active in her church, singing, playing the piano, teaching Sunday School, and was a member of the Omega Church in Oskaloosa. A talented musician, in her younger years Lois was often asked to sing and play the piano for special occasions.
Lois enjoyed knitting, sewing, and her pet dogs. She will be remembered for her kind, gracious, and courteous spirit. She delighted in spending time with her family.
Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Ann and Alastair Muir of Morrision, Illinois; two granddaughters and their husbands, Sasha & Michael Kamper and Wendi & Christopher Denham; a great grandson, Ewan Denham; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dale Reynolds; and many brothers-in-law and sisters in law.
Graveside Funeral Service and burial will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa with Reverend David Brown officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Monday after 5 p.m. and the family will be present from 5-7 Monday evening to greet friends and relatives.
