Local Martial Artist Test Their Skills

Brayton's Black Belt Academy and Karate

Brayton’s Black Belt Academy and Karate for Kids, of 109 N. 3rd, held an advancement testing at the Penn Central Mall earlier today. The testing were for students to receive a belt of higher honor. The higher level of belt the harder of skill level and time of dedication is required. In order to past the testing, the students had to perform a form, self-defense tactics. Students with a higher belt level also had to break a board and or spar with another student. A form is a series of moves that displays the students knowledge. These forms must be performed memorized. The younger students perform there forms alongside with instructor Stephen Brayton. Some of the very advanced students did a weapon form.

Brayton said that there are about twenty kids enrolled in the program. Those interested in joining can contact Brayton at 641-670-0442, slb@mahaska.org or at there website http://stephenbrayton.com/taekwondo.html
