Lester Shipman, 82, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, April 14, 2017, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. He was born Wednesday, February 27, 1935.

Lester worked at Oskaloosa Food Products for over 30 years and retired from there.

Lester enjoyed work and witness trips and always looked forward to going on them. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa and was very giving to the church.

Lester is survived by his close longtime friend, Dennis DeJong of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Graveside services and burial will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. in the University Park Cemetery in University Park with Pastor Dave Brown officiating.
A visitation will be held at Bates Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 20, 2017, from 12 noon until 1:45 P.M.
A procession will form at 1:45 P.M. at the Bates Funeral Chapel for those wishing to go to the cemetery.
