KIIC Receives Baseball Broadcast Award
Known more for their State Wrestling and Friday Night Lights Football broadcasts, radio station KIIC was recently honored as the ‘Media Broadcaster of the Year’ for their contributions to high school baseball.
KIIC (owned by Oskaloosa resident Joe Milledge) was on hand for the Iowa High School Coaches’ Association banquet held in Cedar Rapids.
KIIC typically carries play-by-play broadcasts of Albia, but also carries some Chariton, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Twin Cedars games.
In an interview with Oskaloosa News, “We are excited to be recognized on behalf of the athletes we cover. I’m blessed to have a very deep bench of sportscasters who truly love what they do.” Milledge said. At the banquet, Milledge referenced his father Larry who was added to the Iowa Coaches Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993 as a past athlete for the Tracy Bobcats, Cleveland Indians farm club, and longtime Chariton Charger baseball coach.
As a side note, Chariton’s Milledge field (named after Larry) has never had lighting, but will be flipping the switch on the new Musco Lighting installation this week.
