Kevin Lee Van Polen, age 41, of Attica, IA, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Kevin was born on March 26, 1978, at the Mahaska County Hospital to Robert and LeAnn (McKay) Van Polen.

Kevin grew up and attended school at Twin Cedars, graduating with the Class of 1996.

On October 11, 2003, Kevin married Kristen Toll at the Tracy Christian Reformed Church. To this union, 2 children, Kaylee and Kinsley, were born. Kristen and Kevin shared 15 years of marriage prior to his passing.

Following high school, Kevin went to work for De Vries Electric, where he obtained his journeyman’s license, and was still currently employed.

Kevin was a very talented fabricator who enjoyed building many different things, including rock climbers and smokers. He enjoyed the outdoors doing things such as hunting, boating, and golfing. Family was everything to Kevin. He loved gathering with family and also loved the food, especially mashed potatoes and noodles. Above all, he was a loving father who loved spending time with his girls, Kaylee and Kinsley.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Kristen Van Polen; 2 children, Kaylee and Kinsley Van Polen; his parents, Bob and LeAnn Van Polen; 2 brothers, Mark Van Polen and Dennis Marlin; 1 sister, Dawn Ann (& Bruce) Crozier; his nieces and nephews: Amanda, Jacob, Kade, Nathan, Megan, Conner, and Hunter; his grandmother, Mona Pinne; his parents-in-law, Craig and Kathy Snell and Dan Toll; a sister-in-law, Angie (& Shawn) VanEngelenhoven; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Laurel Van Polen; an aunt, Mazie Rouw; 2 uncles, William Van Polen Jr and Denny McKay; and a cousin, Brenda Nichols.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m-8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Kevin’s family present throughout the evening to greet family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the Celebrate Church in Knoxville, IA.
Burial will follow services in Liberty Cemetery in Bussey, IA.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Kevin’s 2 girls, Kaylee and Kinsley, for college funds.
