The flag flying over the bandstand during the month of June is in honor of Jerry Davis.
Jerry enlisted in the Army, May 25, 1964, and served until May 24, 1967. He serving a tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Expert Badge (M-14 Rifle) at the time of his discharge.
After returning from the service, he was employed in the tire industry in Des Moines, Oskaloosa and then as a tire representative for Sieberling Tires, covering Iowa, Indiana and Illinois. In 1972, Jerry returned to Oskaloosa and purchased Lytle Insurance which evolved to Davis Insurance. July 1, 2001, Jerry sold his business and in November, he and his wife, Barb bought a home on Neely Henry Lake in Glencoe, Alabama. Jerry was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and the Elks Club in Oskaloosa.
