John Campbell, 89, of Oskaloosa, IA, died Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Oskaloosa Care Center.  John Leland Campbell, son of Harry and Nell Campbell, was born March 8, 1934, in Fairmont, MN.

His family eventually settled in Boone, where he graduated from Boone High School in 1951 and attended Boone Junior College.

John married Sheila Browning on August 22, 1953.

He worked at Quinn’s Wire and Iron Works in Boone and served in the Iowa National Guard.

He moved to Oskaloosa, IA, in 1969, where he worked at Clow Valve Company for over 30 years. He and Sheila owned Imperial Lanes in Camanche, IA, in the 1980s before returning to Oskaloosa.

John was a member of the Oskaloosa Bowling and Iowa State Seniors Bowling Hall of Fames. He had been actively involved at the Grant Senior Center in Oskaloosa.

John is survived by his wife, Sheila; son, Alan, of Davenport, IA; and granddaughter, Kristin, of Orange, CA.

He was preceded by his daughter-in-law, Connie.

A private funeral service will be held at Bass Point Cemetery in rural Boone, IA.
