Jimenez Resigns From Oskaloosa City Council

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Oskaloosa Second Ward city council representative Tom Jimenez tendered his resignation from the Oskaloosa City Council on Monday night.

During his announcement, Jimenez stated he is moving out of his district. “I appreciate it,” said Jimenez to the remaining council members. “It’s been quite the pleasure working with all of you.”

City Council member Scotty Moore said, “We’ll miss you.”

Council member Doug Yates wished Jimenez, “Good luck.”

The council heard from health insurance representative Brad Reiman, who outlined changes for the fiscal year 2019. The council approved the resolution adopting those proposals.

The council also heard from the Mahaska Community Recreation Foundation [MCRF] and their quarterly activities report.

In regular business, the council approved;

-A resolution approving new street lighting for the D Street Reconstruction Project.
-A resolution approving a site plan for Fellowship Bible Church.
-A resolution approving a site plan for International Ingredient Corporation
-Approved a resolution approving Amendment No. 2 to the contract with Garden and Associates for the Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project.
-Accepted the completion of Division 1 of the Phase 1 Sanitary Sewer System Improvements Project by Cornerstone Excavating, Inc.
-Approved a resolution approving and directing the city attorney to initiate condemnation proceedings for a property located within the City of Oskaloosa.
-Received and filed the City of Oskaloosa Rental Housing Inspection Program 2018 Audit Report.
-Approved a motion directing city staff to proceed with the demolition of 313 South 3rd Street and with the prosecution of the owner as a violator of Oskaloosa Municipal Code 15.30.
-Approved a motion to proceed with the survey and indicate the intent to sell a portion of the city-owned lot located adjacent to 433 North 6th Street.
