Jeffrey Johnson, 45, of Tiffin, Iowa, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 29, 2019. He was born October 29, 1973, in Oskaloosa, the son of Franklin and Robbie (Pearson) Johnson.

Jeffrey competed in several math competitions as a child and was a part of Upward Bound while he attended the Oskaloosa High School. He graduated with the Class of 1992. After graduation he attended Iowa State University and earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Spanish and an MBA from the University of Iowa in 2002.

Jeffrey worked at Rockwell Collins for 6 years after college. He worked several tax seasons at TaxAct and had worked at ACT for the past 1.5 years. Jeffrey loved sports and was a talented athlete. He was very active in intramural sports at Iowa State, including football, tennis and other sports, until a softball compound tibia-fibula fracture led to muscle and nerve damage. Jeffrey stayed active after his injury by walking, riding his bike and weightlifting. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Jeffrey is survived by his son, Lance Johnson of North Liberty; his parents, Robbie and Frank Johnson of Oskaloosa; his sisters, J.J. (7 Tim) TenClay of Manhasset, New York and Brenda (& Craig) Galassi of Williamsburg; a brother, Brett (& Rachel) Johnson of Rochester, New Hampshire; his maternal grandmother, Betty Pearson of Knoxville; and four nieces: Sophia and Petra TenClay and Isabel and Harper Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Alice Johnson; his maternal grandfather, Harlan Pearson; an uncle, Duane Pearson; and an aunt, Teresa Braden.

A memorial service will be held July 5, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. as a final tribute to Jeff, please wear Iowa State or Oskaloosa Indian attire. Also, everyone is encouraged to bring a favorite story of Jeff to share.
Visitation following until 6:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa.
As was Jeffrey’s wish his body has been cremated. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for Jeffrey’s son Lance or by volunteering time or donating to a charity of personal choice in memory of Jeffrey.
