January 13 accident ends with multiple injuries

At approximately 3:30 on January 13th, 2011, Leslie VanZee was driving West nearing Highway 14 on G-28. VanZee, 35 of Pella driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan failed to yield to traffic traveling on Highway 14.

Sir Busick, a 58 year old from Melcher, Iowa was traveling North on Highway 14 and made contact with the Dodge of VanZee who had pulled onto the highway. Busick’s 2002 GMC Sonoma struck the front left corner of the Dodge in the Northbound lane with both vehicles coming to rest side by side facing Northwest on Highway 14.

VanZee and two juvenile passengers in her van were transported to Pella’s Hospital for injuries, while Busick was transported by helicopter to Mercy Medical.

VanZee was charged with Fail to Obey Stop Sign and Yield Right of Way.
